Saturday December 14th, Jah Kebra Music and DJ Irie Dole present a night of reggae soundsystem featuring popular Reggae/Dancehall artists- Soulmedic, Teoman and special guests, at 10pm Saturday 14th at Charley's in Paia (142 Hana Hwy, Paia, HI 96779).
On Saturday night Dec 14th the town of Paia will come alive with the sounds of reggae and dancehall music centered at local favorite venue- Charley's. DJ Irie Dole, host of the Rebel Nights show on Q103 Maui FM will be spinning the best in reggae, dancehall and island music and backing reggae and dancehall artists in traditional reggae soundsystem style. Soulmedic, a well known, dynamic California based artist, will be performing alongside Maui's talented - Teomon. Soulmedic and Teomon will be accompanied by suprise guests. Music will start at 10pm and admission is 10$.
In Jamacian reggae tradition- the soundsystem selectors spin the latest songs and dubplate "specials" (custom personalized songs, praising the particular "sound") with singers and chanters performing throughout the night over instrumental versions. Saturday, Dcember 14th at Charley's in Paia your selector is Irie Dole from the 8 time soundclash West Coast Champion "sound"- Jah Warrior Shelter HiFi. Irie Dole, an all round reggae advocate is a radio personality on Q103 FM Maui, with the "Rebel Nights" radio show airing primetime Saturday nights 8-11pm. Soulmedic is described by Rocky Allan Bailey (reggae pioneer and event MC) as "The #1 Reggae artist in California" will be performing alongside local favorite -Teomon. Soulmedic is touring Hawaii with stops in Oahu (Dec 28th) and Big Island (Dec 21st) and is slated to release his 4th album this spring on the Jah Kebra Music label and has new music available for free download including the new hit single-"Real Ganja Culture" at http://www.reverbnation.com/soulmedic. Teomon is a Maui local with strong, smokey-smooth vocals reminiscent of Beres Hammond, with an original and modern delivery. Irie Dole Bio-
Irie Dole is a well established DJ, promoter, event host, radio personality and all around Reggae advocate. Growing up in the Bay Area, he was guided by veteran Reggae figures such as Spliff Skankin, Robert Rankin, Tony Moses and Isa the Ion Lion. Irie Dole is the leading promoter of Reggae talent from the Bay Area and beyond, getting young and underrepresented talents the spotlight they deserve.
Irie Dole has become the preferred performance selector for such artists as Prezident Brown, Rocker-T, Rankin Scroo, JR Toots and Soulmedic, and has even extended his services to names like Too Short, Spragga Benz, Romain Virgo and Demarco. As a 9 time soundclash champion, talking and relating to large audiences has come natural to him. Teomon Bio-
Teomon UniverSoul MessenJah is a heartfelt reggae artist, who has a positive message in his music for people all over the world. He sings about family, friends, love, finding solutions, fulfilling our dreams and connecting with our Souls. Teomon said, "I first heard reggae at 8 years old, my best friend's mom had a Rasta boyfriend and he would always play reggae music. It wasn't until I was 12 that I truly fell in love with reggae, while listening to my first reggae show I heard "Roots Radical" by Jimmy Cliff that's when I was entranced from that moment on." Moving from the big island to Maui as a teenager, Teomon met Marty Dread, who gave him his first opportunity in a reggae band.
After graduating high school, Teomon moved from Maui to Kauai and met Ron Rhodes, the leader of The Shakers reggae band. Forming a strong bond with Ron and Ronnie Rhodes, Teomon performed live with The Shakers as a reggae DJ for ten years. They performed many memorable shows together, as well as recording two albums, "Strictly Pleasure" and "Good Days Ahead". Ron Rhodes also produced Teomon's first solo CD, "The Choice We Make", featuring 13 original songs and the island hit, "Island Music". People say it is music to brighten your day. One fan from Mexico was quoted as saying, "Congratulations, you know i like very much your music. I enjoy your CD and listen to it frequently. Your music makes me feel very good and when I am sad it makes me happy."
Teomon then moved back to Maui to work on his second solo release, "Higher Calling". On this second album, Teomon teamed up with Joseph Ramos aka B.U.B.Z. a local maui artist and music producer. Sharing many of the same musical aspirations, they embarked on the recording of 18 original songs. B.U.B.Z. is also featured on seven tracks as a guest artist. Gavinchi, a young reggae artist from Jamaica is also featured on two tracks adding some authentic Jamaican flavor. Teomon said, "B.U.B.Z. is an amazing young music producer with remarkable talent and a fun loving positive attitude." As a graduate of L.A. Music Recording School, B.U.B.Z. was excited to produce his first album, "Teomon, Higher Calling". As artist and co- producer, Teomon has a seemingly effortless ability to write catchy and meaningful songs while B.U.B.Z. is able to match him with the perfect riddims.
Teomon is a dedicated artist with a Positive Message deeply rooted in his music. As he stated in one of his songs, "One of my dreams is to travel the land, with the Mic inna me hand, spreading good intention."
